What is it?
This is a type of fastener, the connection of which, as the name implies, is made by pressing. Clicking again does not disconnect, as you might expect by analogy :)
Button (jersey) is two parts. One of them "mushroom" when connected is fixed in the second by a spring or button material. The consumer got the opportunity to buy buttons, the design we are familiar with in 1903, when the Prym company issued a patent. The company still innovates and produces a lot of interesting things. In addition to the standard method of application, buttons are used, for example, in electrical designers to connect circuit nodes. Since its introduction into everyday life, several patents have been issued for buttons of improved design. For example, in patent RU 2182810 C1 dated October 16, 2000, a wear-resistant button with an adjusting screw is described. But here is a patent from Soviet times. SU 1613106 A1 dated 22 December 1988 describes a button of a simplified design.
What buttons can you buy from us?
So you've decided to buy buttons. The main types used in work clothes are presented on our website. To choose the type of button you need, you should proceed from the purpose of the product. For example, staple buttons are used mainly for underwear, because they are lighter than ordinary and more compact plastic ones, which is a determining factor for clothes that come into contact with the body. The O- and S- (also known as Alpha) types are quite versatile. Buy such buttons for outerwear, bags, covers. If the determining factor is the price and, at the same time, there are no special requirements for the appearance, you can buy plastic buttons. Typical and alternative areas of application of the buttons are shown in the table below.
Advantages and disadvantages
What makes a button good? First of all, it is possible to easily automate the process of installing the button on the base. In addition, there is no need to make slits, which contributes to preservation of tissue. The disadvantages include the relatively low strength of the connection (although this can also be considered as an advantage in terms of the speed of unfastening), the difficulty or even the impossibility of repair, as well as the tendency of metal buttons to oxidation (alloy steel is rarely used). So, if the product must maintain its appearance during long-term use in humid conditions, perhaps you should not buy buttons, and it is better to use a button or a zipper.
Varieties
Buttons are made of metal or plastic, usually round, but there are also other shapes. For example, hexagonal. According to design features, they are also distinguished:
- Simple buttons (O-shaped) - the connection occurs due to the shape of the button; common on overalls;
- Alpha (S-shaped) buttons - the connection is provided by a spring; a softer connection compared to the previous one;
- Shirt buttons (ring) - United form ensures; have a small size;
- Magnetic buttons are the most expensive; are used, as a rule, for the production of bags, wallets;
- Clamp or block - have a hole in the lid;
- Strips - the connection is provided by a hook and loop; used, mainly on ski pants;
- "Tablet" button - produced in the USSR until the 80s; used for fastening valves of various leather goods; has the original lid mechanism.
